Principal's Message
Dear Students and Parents:

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! As we enter our second academic semester our commitment at John Hope College Preparatory High School is to provide a safe and intellectually challenging environment that will empower students to become innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers and inspired learners prepared to thrive in the twenty-first century.

As the principal of John Hope College Prep, I come with eighteen years of experience in Chicago Public Schools moving from being Assistant Principal here at John Hope and now, for the eighth year, as Principal. I am honored and humbled by this opportunity to serve you and your children at John Hope and am completely committed to ensuring that we provide the best possible educational experience for every student that enters our school doors.

At John Hope College Prep, we have an exceptional teaching and support staff that works tirelessly for the benefit of each and every student. We pride ourselves in being a place where our mission is to ensure every child’s potential is achieved.

In addition to our exceptional staff, we are purposing in our hearts to seek to build a very involved community filled with parents, families, and community members that support all our students. Through the support of our parents and community, all students at John Hope will be able to enjoy a safe academic learning environment filled with assemblies, field trips, technology in the classroom, supplies, books, music, Art Vistas, and much, much more!

As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I am very proud to say that at John Hope, we are recreating that village and as a village of staff and parents that work together to support all our children, we are excited about joining together with you in order to make this a successful school year with great achievement for all of our John Hope students! I look forward to personally meeting you soon and hope that you will get involved in any way that you can to help, because I strongly believe that parent and community partnerships are an essential piece to the success of a school.

Respectfully,

 Michael Durr
 Principal
